After ten years practising civil litigation at a leading Vancouver firm, I spent three years as Executive Legal Officer at the Supreme Court of Canada. I now practise civil litigation and public law in Ottawa and Vancouver.


Counsel work including trials, arbitrations, appeals, judicial reviews, chambers/motions works, examinations outside of court and legal opinions.

Civil litigation experience in a wide variety of matters including commercial disputes, wills and estates matters, real estate litigation, environmental claims and professional negligence cases. Recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada 2020 for corporate and commercial litigation.

Public law experience both as litigation counsel in administrative and constitutional cases and as former in-house counsel to the Chief Justice of Canada on constitutional and regulatory issues facing the Supreme Court of Canada, the Canadian Judicial Council and the National Judicial Institute.

Media and communications experience including media relations and the development of a social media strategy for the Supreme Court of Canada.

Board experience as secretary of the National Judicial Institute (2015-2018), director of the International Commission of Jurists Canada (2014-2018) and director of the Canadian Council on International Law (2018-present).

Legal writing, teaching and speaking as the author of the leading text on the use of public international law by Canadian courts, as well as other works published by Irwin Law, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, the Canadian Yearbook of International Law and the Canadian Bar Review.

Professional development experience as faculty at judicial training seminars and continuing professional development programs for lawyers across Canada.
